Couple Jailed After Throwing Fetus Into Trash Can!

Morris County, New Jersey - Erin Dougherty, 25, and Daniel Aratow, 31, were jailed after they allegedly dumped the remains of a baby into a trash can outside their home.

According to police, Dougherty and Aratow went to Morristown Medical Center stating that she had stomach pains. Dougherty told medical staff that she had delivered a stillborn baby two days prior and that she was 25 weeks along in her pregnancy.

Doughtery told investigators that she and Aratow wrapped up the fetus and “disposed” of it in a trash can outside of their home. Their trash, along with the fetus, was picked up by their trash service and taken to a landfill in Pennsylvania. The fetus has yet to be recovered.

Investigators say Dougherty claimed that she was told the baby had no heartbeat during a doctor’s visit on April 11th. However, after reviewing medical records and interviewingDougherty’s physician, detectives discovered that she had tried to abort the child, but the clinic refused to terminate the pregnancy because the baby was alive and appeared to be 26 to 27 weeks old.

Detectives are attempting to locate the fetus, in hopes of determining whether it was dead or alive during the delivery. Further charges may be pending.

Dougherty and Aratow were booked into jail on charges of disposing “regulated medical waste” without obtaining required authorization from state environmental or health officials. They were both released after posting a $7,500 bond each.

Today CNN tops that prison (which employs personal trainers) with what it calls the “world’s nicest prison” and “the holiday version of Alcatraz.” Also located in Norway, Bastoy Prison is, as you might expect, home to murderers and rapists. Here’s what it’s not home to: armed guards or fences. In fact, the convicts carry the keys to their own rooms. On this tiny island, the 115 prisoners can tan on the beaches, fish, play tennis, and use the sauna.

Instead of cells, they live in cottages “painted a cheery red.” They wear whatever clothes they want. They get paid about $10 a day to do jobs like garden, or tend to horses. They eat farm-fresh eggs and salmon. If all this infuriates you, join the club: Norway has heard it before. It says its unconventional approach reduces the risk of reoffending: Some 20% of the country’s prisoners do so in two years; of those who have passed through Bastoy, it’s 16%. The three-year US rate is 43%. Says the prison’s governor, “”If we have created a holiday camp for criminals here, so what? We should reduce the risk of reoffending, because if we don’t, what’s the point of punishment, except for leaning toward the primitive side of humanity?”

Throughout the years, we’ve seen some pretty genius inventions from Japan, but every once in a while they come up with something so strange, so bizarre, you can’t help but ask yourself “what were they thinking?” The new Face Slimmer anti-aging mouthpiece is one of those things…

The so-called face Slimmer was launched in Japan, late last year, by a well-known cosmetic company called Glim. It’s a weird-looking rubbery thing that looks a lot like the mouth of a blow-up doll, and it supposedly solves your sagging face problem while giving you that coveted duck-face look. You know, the one every “cool” teenager poses with in their Facebook photos. Now, unlike most other Japanese inventions, the Face Slimmer isn’t high-tech. In fact it’s as low tech as they come, all you have to do is put it in your mouth and start exercising your face muscles. Think of it as a squeeze punch for your mouth…

When photos of the Face Slimmer first appeared on the Internet, some Japanese media outlets took it as a gag, but when it started being listed on online stores like Japan Trend Shop, everyone stopped laughing. This thing isn’t cheap either, it costs a whopping $83. No thanks, I think I’ll cut off the mouth off my blow-up doll instead. Anyway, if you’re curious about how it’s used, Glim has released some photos with the Face Slimmer in action, along with some instructions, like trying to repeat out loud the Japanese vowel sounds – “a i u e o”
